Turboing

Post by Zbroja »

Hi... Just got a few General Questions. I own a 93mx-3 GS V6 im guessin the Stock engine in there is a K8? Anywayz what my question is, I was hoping to put a turbo into the car, but from what I have read its not a good idea to Turbo KLZE because of its high compression ratio? Is that true?

Thanks all

low boost and high compression vs high boost and low compression has been a subject that people debate for a long time now. a higher compression engine will make more power for each psi than a lower compression engine would. that ze is not a bad engine to boost. You just have to be more carefull and tune your engine very well. I've seen ZE with 10pounds of boost on it and didn't had a problem. I've seen ze with 4 psi blow up too. It's all in the tuning. Personnaly for 250whp range I would boost a ze instead of a klde but for higher than that go with a klde or rebuild a motor for boost like I did
RIP 400whp ZE-T MX-3
Current car : Golf 01 GTI 1.8T (15 psi)

Even though you most likely can't afford it i'd suggest an engine swap, not the best idea to turbo a stock engine.
I did that once and it fucked up my pistons real bad,and the first thing that went on my car was the clutch.... but what ever you want.
I own a black mazda Mx-3 v6 gs,cold air intake, costum muffler, momo wheels,250w sony cd player,450 watt sony amp. with 2 twelve inch kicker impulse subs, ported box...ect. nothing much and a T-3 turbo" not on right now"
