Low idle and stalling

Post by MX-3 for Me »

Ahhh, "what could possibly be happening now michelle?" you ask? Let me tell you, my car is now idling way too low and stalling at stop signs and red lights...anyone have any insight as to what is causing this? I dont even want to take it into the shop cause im so sick of the mechanics...ive spent entirely too much on this POS. Maybe I can fix it myself! :D haha doubt that. Pleeeeeease help a girl out!!!

sounds like the standard distributor problem.

do a search, and you`ll get lot`s of info
all I remember is a new distributor is pretty damn expensive

Could be a vacum leak.

The intake boot on my car had a leak that got progressively worse over a month's period.

It would idle extremely low at idle, to the point of almost stalling. It got so bad that it was stalling all the time at idle.

nonoono, don't use electrical tape. Go back out and wrap her good with ductape, a few times. I used electrical tape on my first cracked intake hose and 350 miles later, it was worseoff than before it, haha. Electrical tape can't stand up to the high temps under the hood, ductape is webbed and will not melt/stretch nearly as bad. ;)
