upgrades

Post by jd9483 »

hey, I just got my 94 mx-3 like a couple weeks ago. i started to look around for upgrades for the engine and other odd parts and i stumbled upon this site. Well to make a long story short, i want to upgrade my car to be a pretty fast car. I just kinda need help to know what to buy first and what not to buy. I also have a limited spending limit right now but i can always save up and buy more expensive parts later, i just would like to know the basic preformance parts that will really help my car. I have a DOHC 4-cyl engine if this helps any. Oh and it came with a new air intake already installed (if this helps any). OH and if this is in the wrong part of the forum, sorry i didnt know where else to out it (dont kill me) THANKS

stand alone ecu... haltech
turbo charger and piping and intercooler

Don't overload this guy.

I believe he said he has a limited budget, so swaping out to a KLZE motor is out of the question.

JD, if you go to the 4cyl parts and performance thread and use the search. Type in "1.6 DOHC" or "parts for DOHC" something in those lines. You might get what you are looking for.

Depending what kind of money you have, Turbo charger might be your best bet.

THere's at least one that I know of, but it's only stage one, and not alot of HP for $2 grand. I can't speak for the other guys on here, but I'd piece it together. You can get turbos for next to nothing if you get them from an auto recycler. OR you might be more inclined to just find and old MX-6 turbo from like '88 or '89. I know theres one for sale for $400 close to where I am. If I only had the money.... :( And an MX-6 will already have some of the parts you'll need besides the turbo. You never did say what your budget is, but if you've got about $2000-2500 it mught just be easier to do a swap to a BP-T. 180hp engine in gtx trim, 200-210 (apparently) in GTR trim. GTR trim is harder to find.
