Ok heres my two cents, I really don't care much for street racing; I prefer rally racing, but I do admit I will do it at times without even thinking. Theres two reasons why people street race. First they do not live close to a race track or drag strip and if they do it might be a half a-- one; Second they try to act hard or to impress his/her friends and that is why they street race and the second reason is the main reason why people street race. I also do admit it's not a smart thing to do, but street racing will be around for a very long time and is a very difficult thing to stop. So I think it's time to stop with all these topics about killing street racing and agreeing with who ever. So basically the moderator should just delete any topics or post that deal with street racing. Well i'm done giving my opinion.
[ December 23, 2001: Message edited by: powerman_5000 ]

Personally I think that if you are "ok" with risking your life and or someone elses (even the innocent deer) street racing because you have nowhere else to do it than you have no business driving a car in the first place.. Period... It is that type of immaturity that causes serious accidents and lots of disrespect. I myself am damn sick and tried of being disrespected by certain groups of people because my car "looks" the way it does. Not everyone street races but that is the reputation we are beginning to have. Why do you think cops are more likely to pull your car over rather than that stock civic or mx for that matter? I saw an artical the other day it was called "Should They Be Banned". They were talking about cars with mods. (Pretaining to most of our cars). They showed the average number of deaths every year caused by street racing and other statistics. There was also a lady who made a statment in the artical whose husband, son, and daughter were killed by "some of those people" (as they put it) who were racing on a country road. There is a petition going on right now to make it illegal to do mods to any car intended to be driven on public roadways. And this is all because of the people who are immature enough to street race.

I don't really wanna hear that you haven't raced illegal on public roads, because everyone has done it at least once or twice. Don't bother telling people you never street raced before cause all they will think is ya that guy is full of it or your a momma's boy; just get the testicular fortitude and admit that you have done it once. Anyway now to say I should stay off the streets is a whole different thing. If you read the first sentence; I do recall saying that I DON'T care much for street racing and DON'T being the key word; wait nope maybe you didn't catch that let me repeat it I DON'T CARE MUCH FOR STREET RACING!! Maybe that got through to you, I doubt it though. I rather rally race than street race anyway and it's far more fun. I did say that I do it and I won't deny it, but when racing I don't think about anything else other than beating the brake shoes off the other guy when I race and that is not a good thing because theres lots of things that could and most likely happen during the race and I realized that, but back then I was young and looking for cheap thrills. Now on to the topic about the petition; even if they do make a petition to ban cars with mods off public roads, it will not stop street racing!! Like I said in the previous post "street racing has been around for ages and is very difficult to stop." Poeple will race with any car they drive even older people will do it at times. So petitioning will not solve the case of illegal street racing. One last thing read stuff clearly and understand it before gritting on someone.

FIRST OF ALL pump your brakes!! I was not talking about you or to you specifically. I was talking about the subject in general.
SECOND... yes I have a couple of times when I was younger. Until my best friend was killed by an a$$ hole in a POS civic who just so happened to be "Street racing". I never made the comment I had never done it, but it is something I will never do again because I have reaped the consequinces on a personal level.
When I said people who have no reguard for endangering their lives as well as others have no business driving I am talking about the people who make street racing a habit. Who think that they have to race every other fast "looking" car they come across.... Which in my eyes also includes the kids who borrow their mommie and daddy's cars(stock) on a Saturday night and go to the local Kroger parking lot or back road to immitate the Fast and the Furrious.
The comment I made on the petition was not to say that It would stop street racing all togather, I am not stupid... What I got from the artical was that there is so much street racing going on and accidents because of them that alot of people are beginning to steriotype. I know it is not just cars w/mods but I also did not write the artical.
I don't know you And I don't nor will I ever tear down or disrespect someone I dont know. But if I strongly disagree on an act (not with any one spacific person) I will voice my openion openly.
:)

Holy s--- People. Do you not read what Jeff has posted? NO STREET RACING TOPICS. This means pro or con. And stating that if you street race "you have no business driving a car in the first place" is totally disrespectful and "immature". Yes we do it and we like it. It's the thrill we like. And as you stated you've done it too. Jst becuz you lost a friend (like everyone else that is against street racing) doesn't mean it's not hypocritical to badmouth it. It's like someone with lung cancer saying that anyone who smokes is a loser. You've tried it, so you are in a sence a "street racer". I'm not tryin to make anymore enemies (god knows I have enuff) I'm just sick of peeps playin "Mr/Mrs Perfect". I've been to coutless races and there is yet to be someone hurt. Everyone says this is a very dangerous sport, and in certain circumstances it can be, but figure, EVERY weekend in EVERY city there is a street race happening. Think there may be 30-50 races per night. Now count how many peeps die doing it. Not the 50/50 ratio you "anti-racers" would like to put across. Now since I got that off my chest, (I will be happy to continue this debate thru e-mail if you wish to keep complaining) This is still a street racing topic and should be closed and/or deleted from this forum.
