injectors for B6T

Post by Shady469 »

simple question: what is a good size injector for the B6T? something that'll be able to put up with high amounts of boost but not kill me on everyday MPG. and are there any companies that are better than others (RC Engineering, Python, Accel,..)
B6T powered MX-3 - sold
Stage 3ish 03 WRX - sold
03 S2000 - current/ for sale

Just run the stock injectors, they are around 330cc. These can handle most anything that you will be doing with the motor. After that, look at injectors for an FC3S, I believe they are around 550cc. Or look at injectors from an Eclipse, 440cc.

Here is an even quicker way to determine how much hp the injectors can support.
Take the injectors rating in cc form, divide by 5, multiply by the # of cylinders. 440cc injectors can handle 352hp or roughly 300whp.
BTW - almost all the GTX guys run the DSM 440cc injectors or the NA FC3S 550cc injectors. Depends on the power you need. I am upgrading because I only have about 30hp more before my 330cc injectors are taxed, seriously looking at the 550cc injectors for that extra cushioning (want to keep the duty cycle low).

Umm, if 440cc injectors are the largest the S-AFC can control, how is it that many FD3S RX-7s are running well over 1000cc injectors, or Supras running 600+cc injectors? Load of crap! The problem lies with the ecu you are using, not the S-AFC, since the S-AFC modifies the ecu's signal. Go with the Pro LX ecu, the stock mx-3 ecu is designed around a set of 205cc injectors.
BTW - why are you using the S-AFC to completely control fuel under boost? You need a RR-FPR to get complete control, but I am sure you know this already. There shouldn't be a need to have -50%. What is your high throttle position percentage at? should try around 65-80.

The pro LX ecu is designed for high impedance injectors.
Have been monitoring your egt with the high throttle dialed back so much? Just curious what you are running. Be careful with the low settings, make sure you don't drop them down too far. This is what happened when my motor went. The high settings were perfect for the boost I was running but as soon as I lifted off the throttle, my 5-6k rpm setting was too low and I got to see the tell tale signs of a blown motor. Generally my settings are in the +/- 10% with the current setup. The only problem with the stock fpr is accuracy. The FPR that mazda uses only adjusts at 3 different settings depending on throttle position, it isn't very linear. Besides a bigger exhaust system, my next upgrade is to pick up a SX rr-fpr and run either the -6AN or -10AN fuel lines.

It seems that everyone is running a lil rich. I went with a set of balanced 370cc injectors for my b6t project. Think I will have any probs?

No problems, I still have the 330cc injectors. Once the new turbo and intercooler go in, I will be going to the 550cc injectors. Your injectors will reach 100% duty cycle at 300hp so they should be fine, especially if you goal is around the 225whp area.

I think yes.. There is a company that will cryo-treat the internals and I also have found a shop that can make the driveshafts bigger-better-stronger. Should not be a problem.
