GROUP BUY: Leather or CF Vinyl E-brake Boot to fit with
Re: GROUP BUY: Leather or CF Vinyl E-brake Boot to fit with
Micv, Gro, MxAlmere and DennisJ -
I have talked to the guy that is involved in the production of all the boots and seats.
For a seat re-upholstery GB we would need five (5) people for each seat style (92-93 and 94+). The price is yet to be determined as we have not discussed that is detail. It will also depend on the materials used as mentioned before.
If there is a GB for seat re-upholstery, it will only be for the front seats. Anyone wanting to have rear seats done would have to request that on an individiual basis as it will not be part of GB at that time. Although patterns for rear seats are on hand already anyway so they could be done. Door insert kits could not be done as a kit, because actual door cover will be needed to glue the fabric onto it although patterns exist as well. I guess one can attempt to glue it themselves.
As far as materials. These could be a possibility: Leather, Vinyl, CF Vinyl, Heavy Duty Tweed or Regular Cloth. Could also do a combination of colours and/or materials.
Eg.: Black Leather with Red Leather Inserts and Red Stitching.
Eg.: Black CF Vinyl with Silver CF Vinyl Inserts and Blue Stitching.
Eg.: Dark Blue Vinyl with Silver CF Vinyl Inserts and Yellow Stitching.
Eg.: Silver Tweed with Red CF Vinyl Inserts and Red Stitching
The combination of a smooth material and a textured material usually turns out good. The durable materials are Leather, Tweed and CF Vinyl.
My tweed seats take a lot of abuse and they still look new. All the Hot rodders use Tweed in combination with leather or Vinyl. Tweed with CF Vinyl will not work as it will clash. Actually CF Vinyl is apparently a very durable material. Perry from Buckets and Benches did a Lincoln Navigator Limo with custom seats in CF Vinyl. The owner had to test them and he spilled drinks on them, danced on them, scratched them and nothing would damage them. They also clean up well.
Anyway, this is a bit of info that I have gathered so far for those interested. I will check on pricing soon, I just need to go for a visit there.
Regards,
Taras.

I don't want vinyl, leather or tweed. I want a velvety type of fabric. I forgot the exact name, but this guy I know who upholsters seats had a couple of brands with this style fabric for car upholstering.
btw, i wanna get my seats done in black / charcoal gray too. (center being charcoal, sides being black).

If you could get them done in like faux fur or something, that would be cool. would be interested in seat recovery anyway, need a price approximation though.

Gro - Do you mean suede or fake suede? Suede will be as expensive as leather or so.Originally posted by Gro Harlem:

Will - I am still working on pricing. I heed to go for a visit to see the guy. I will let everyone know.
Will - A fuzzy fur seats I am sure could be possible. If the GB will be approved eventually, we will go into the partuculars.

TWO more to go to get our GB rolling. I know there are at least TWO people that were thinking of being in the GB. Guys, please let me know what you have decided.
Tomorrow, I will try to go to Buckets and Benches to get some photos and info for all that were interested in various aspects of this GB and a possible future seat re-upholstery GB.
Cheers,

Re: GROUP BUY: Leather or CF Vinyl E-brake Boot to fit with
sorry I meant for the boot
I'd be interested in the seats depending on price and time of actual GB.

We are almost there. One final person on the list is still pending. Once we have finalized everyone, we will close the GB and move ahaed with payments and production. Hang in there guys. If anyone else wishes to join the GB, this is the time to do it.
Marlon - were you still deciding with regards to a Shifter Boot?
We are going to make a CF Vinyl Prototype Shifter Boot for all to see. This may answer a few questions that been asked.
Any other questions before we move on, please post or email me. taras@mx-west.com

If those are the only choices, I'll have to go with the emerald green. it;s the nicest of the four.
Re: GROUP BUY: Leather or CF Vinyl E-brake Boot to fit with
Will, I thought you will pick Olive Green, it's more Fluorecenty Green.
