get those 6inch curb detectors. I think thats what they are calles they stick out and scrap the curb if you get to close making a loud sound. just to let ya know if they are crome rims I would wax them more often to prevent rust from were they are scraped

Do you know where we can get a group buy on the curb feelers? I saw them in JC Whittney (right next to the "glowing angel" hood ornaments, for about $25). but that seems like too much to pay.
Most machine shops will refinish your aluminum or alloy wheels. If they are gouged too badly they will have to weld in some new material then re-surface, but this can be very expensive.
to protect them you could get taller sidewalls, but that's not the style now. What may work is to buy a wide enough tire that there is a "cushion" of sidewall sticking out past the rim. But remember the sidewalls are intended to keep the rims off the road, not off the curb, so if you hit it'll damage the tire instead of the rim. neither one is good.
Maybe tell your girlfriend not to drive your car
and your rims will last.

thanks for the advice, think i'll look into getting them refinish...i'll let yall know the damage if i get it done
