Re: Online Shop Manual is not working
I must have struck a nerve usually moderators are fast on reacting to such words, they must see that were right, how's any one suppose to know not to copy it if you don't say.

Re: Online Shop Manual is not working
I dont believe the reason is because of people like you. The reason is because it is a copywrited material, Jeff knew this when he took the chance on putting it up. What is upsetting is people like you took advantage of Jeff's kindness in helping out the community and decided you were going to copy the whole thing for your own personal copy. Whats worse is there are still people that think they did nothing wrong in copying it. I used that manual just as much as everyone else probably did, in fact i used it so much that when i saw a deal on ebay for a copy of my own I snatched it up before anyone else could. I know I asked just out of curiousity if it could be put on CD and sold on this site, Jeff has said many times before to buy your own at many requests about the manual. Besides you should have known that it was a copywrighted manual and therefore shouldnt have copied it.Originally posted by MORBIDEL BOB:
I'm sorry , I did not know this was going to be a problem obviously or I would not of said anything. but if it was a problem why did'nt you just tell me to stop I would have done so not a problem. It did take me a long time considering I was doing it at work in my spare time. But now no one can use it, and you "think" it because of people like me. sorry I disagree for some reason.

Re: Online Shop Manual is not working
what about everybody else copying things on the internet. Especially Music one thing I don't copy off the internet mainly because of the bands, but when it comes to an automobile corporation, SCREW them, I tend to treat others how I get treated and have never been into a dealership/or garage without them draining the bank, so if you can do it cheaper DO IT!!!!
on a side note what is the difference between using it and copying it, if I'm using it then your preventing me from having to buying it or getting a dealership to do the work which is why copyrighters are mad in the first place. So if your mad about people copying off the internet then you should be mad with the people who make it accessible. If you make it accessible you pay the price. Your no better then the government, you can buy a bong but you can't use it for what it was made for. "Oh here's the manual but don't use" same crap different pile

Respect to guyaverage for understanding my side, he should not have put it on there "illegally" then try to blame other people when copyright holders give him crapOriginally posted by guyaverage:
No offense, especially at the risk of getting booted out of here... but are you REALLY upset and surprised that people were doing this?? Did you expect people to NOT do this? Why not just put a centerfold model on the site and put "DONT LOOK AT THIS PICTURE" caption under it.....? :p Dont get me wrong, I appreciate every bit of effort you did to put that on there, I'm sure it took a long, long time to get done (shops manuals can be huge, and arent cheap to buy, for anybody who doesnt know this). But to put that type of normally-expensive-to-get information on-line free for public consumption and NOT expect people to download copies of it is, well, unrealistic, dont'cha think? :p

Re: Online Shop Manual is not working
The site was meant to be a reference. When you go to a library they usually have a section called reference material . The purpose of the section is so masses can gather information at which point they need it, not to copy and/or redistribute it. Jeff spent his time and effort making the information available to us all risking his *** in the process. Some people abused it, and now its gone. I'm not jeff, but i can see him expecting members of this community to show the same courtesy he shows us by providing mx-3.com, however most people ignore that courtesy for their own goals.Originally posted by guyaverage:

exactly how I feelOriginally posted by guyaverage:
The only thing wrong here was the original act of placing COPYRIGHTED material on the website, and making it available for public display without the permission or compensation to the copyright owner. But taking advantage of his kindness? What in the world are you talking about? Granted, I have no doubt at all that it took a LOT of effort to get done, but he put it up on a popular, publically viewed website, and REALLY expected people not to copy part (or all) of it for their own use? Are you serious? Using your logic, I could take my wife, put her in a string bikini, take her out to the mall, and have her walk around with a sign that says "DONT LOOK AT ME, I'M MARRIED". If you understand the logic of that scenario, then you will understand the fallacy of your own argument. What is upsetting is people like you took advantage of Jeff's kindness in helping out the community and decided you were going to copy the whole thing for your own personal copy. I'm really not trying to start a war here, I just dont think people committed some grave wrong by doing this. Up until a lot of bulletin boards recently starting taking down their factory shop manuals, I dont recall seeing any moderators or website owners complaining of this as a problem.![]()

I'm almost positive the copyright holders did not see my copy or anyone else copy of the manual , I'm sure they seen the website firstOriginally posted by Sonicxtacy02:

Re: Online Shop Manual is not working
Just get over it already man!!
Geesh!! The horse is already dead-- so stop beating it!!
And-- keep it up and you run the risk of being banned.
Jeff is the man--so stop dissing him.
We get your point.
Think of it this way-- the people that downloaded all that music from the net-- did they break the laws, or did the people who posted the music to be downloaded??
Whatever your answer is-- its wrong. Both were wrong. Not one, not the other.
Jeff did know the risk- and since the risk fianlly came, he took the info down.
Over & Done.
Those who downloaded it or whatever got lucky.
Stop playing the blame game, and just drop it.
