timing problems for ignition and distributor timing only

hey everybody back to ask for help with timing now. i have a question basically about how to properly set it and also how to put the rotor in the proper way cause it can go 3 different ways and i am not sure at all how to do the distributor timing and ignition timing. i can do the timing of the belt on point but dont know that much about distributor or ignition timing the help would be appreciated. thanx

When you pull the old disty, just make a mental not of the general direction the rotor in the hole is facing and the approximate location the old one is bolted in along the travel of the slots.Insert the new one with the rotor facing the same way, and bolt it up in the same approximate location. The ECU will adjust it to 10 degrees from there.
