Press your foot down on that accelerater pedal dude. If looking for easy least expensive mods, drop in a K&N or mazdaspeed filter into the stock airbox.

short of swapping the motor or putting on some kind of forced induction not much. If it is legal to a swap to a 2.5 liter engine would be pretty good for you. Most people see an increase in fuel economy with the larger engine. I know mine went up. I was using ~10 liters per 100k with the K8. With the 2.5 engine I get 9 city and 8 highway. Plus you get another 60hp and 35 ft lbs of torque

I think you mean 45 lbs of torque. 160-115=45.

And depending on which KL, it'd be from about 30-65 HP upgrade.
