Thanks for all the posts guys. I have found a KLZE + transmission + ECU for 500 USD (plus 450 shipping from Japan). Now all I have to do is save up the money to get it.

That price sounds pretty cheap, most people that have bought cheap klze's got sh*t engines. There is no need for the klze tranny either your stock one is fine, but you will want the ecu. I'd suggest you buy your engine from a reputable company like noyan usa or sun's engines i have heard good things about. Noyan is located in Virginia so you could hand pick it and not have any shipping to pay.

Sure, but there are some HIGHLY recommended changed that must be done. The stock clutch will not widthstand the full power of a ZE, also you'll need to change your ECU and/or VAF to get the engine to run right...than theres the preventative maintenance stiff that wou'll kick yourself later on if you don't like:

-water pump
-timing belt*
-serpentine belts
*getting the kit with the timing belt, tensioner and idler pullies isn't a bad idea either

Than there's teh "while while the engine is out" upgrades like

-flywheel
-motor mounts

What the hell? Even at Canadian prices, that's freaking obnoxious. Why not have bought the stuff at regular prices and spend closer to $2000? If you really wanted to get rid of the extra grand, you could have given it to me, and I could have kicked you in the balls?
Here's my guestimates (been too long)
$1600 Engine
$350 MazdaSpeed Moutor Mounts
$600 Timming Belt, Tensionor & Idler Pullies
$40 Serpentine Belts
$300 KLZE ECU
$660 Bully Stage 3 Clutch
$60 Resurfaced Flywheel
$130 Water Pump
$350 Misc Fluids & Gaskets

Lots of silly talk! You will regret buying a KL-ZE for $500. PLus it is in japan? That spells disaster right there. IF you are too anxious you will pay for it in the long run.

of course when I say 3000$ I mean canadian funds... and where are you going to do that swap any cheaper?

I paid 450$ for my Fidanza flywheel plus some gas to get to New York. Around here, I shopped around the area and the best price I could get was 650$ plus taxes and a special order fee.

I also bought a new tranny and the KL36 ECU I have doesnt come free either.

Lakersfan, I honestly dont see where you could have done this swap for 1000$ less.

Just picked mine up from A-Spec in Toronto. $3,000.00cdn for them to do everything.....their website explains it all....should be a link from this UBB. I'm very happy with their work so far. After owning my 92 for the last 10 years...I can't believe the difference now. It's a keeper!!!! :froggie_red: :driver:

No crap. Here's what I could do, even with all thse crazy upgrades people want to do at the same time:

KLZE - $850 (drive my *** 5 hours to Arizona to pick up = no shipping costs)
RR-Racing Stage 2 clutch on ProbeTalk bulk buy - $235
Urethane to fill stock motor mounts - $30
Get K8 flywheel resurfaced - $40 locally
Timing belt kit $140
Mazda timing belt tensioner - $141
New accesory belts - $15 for both
New accesory bearings - $10 for both
Brand new waterpump with lifetime warranty - $70
Royal Purple tranny and motor oil - $70
KLZE ECU - $250

That's all analogous to the stuff listed above. $1850 U.S. Based on today's exchange rate, that's only $2100 Canadian. And that's assuming you don't maintain your existing K8. I've already got all new timing and accesory junk, newer water pump, so that's $370 worth of junk I don't need. As well, my spark plug wires are less than 6 months old, and my distributor is only a year old. So when I'm ready for my swap, I'm getting a new clutch, and that's it. And even then, I'm just getting an OEM Exedy clutch and a reman driver's axle since mine needs replacing anyways. That's all I need without going forced induction or nitrous. If you look on Probetalk, the newest N/A 1/4 mile champ was using an OEM clutch with lightening the car. Our cars are already 250 lbs lighter than a Probe, so I don't see the point in going higher than a Stage 1 unless you're going to be going to the track every weekend and dropping your clutch at 6,000 RPM.

WE DON'T NEED FIDANZAS. MX3 OWNERS ALREADY HAVE LIGHTER FLYWHEELS. IT'S ALSO NOT NEXESSARY TO REPLACE THE FLYWHEEL TO DO A KLZE SWAP. :confused2:
