Supercharged KL-DE or KL-ZE???

Post by MX-3 Money »

Just want some thoughts on this, so all are welcome. What would you guys think is better a supercharged DE or a regular ZE? I know that the ZE has a higher compression ratio so the super charger or a tubro wouldn't get as good boost? Anyone have a supercharged DE out there anyways? And for me the DE would be cheaper(before the supercharger) and better to pass emissions.

jeff abrams used to have a SC klde but switch to a turbocharge DE...If he did this probably he tought it was better...I would still rather have a good tuned ze than a DE supercharged..that's my opinion

A US spec millenia engine would be best. All the advantages of the ZE(heads and intake manifold) with the compression of the DE.

Just to clarify, the ZE is HARDER to boost, BUT it would provide better boost: higher c/r = more hp per psi of boost. It just requires more precise tuning than say a DE with low compression cams (ie. 8.5:1).

y not just supercharge the K8... if boost is on all the time there is no need for more power off boost right?

i could be wrong... but thats just what i thought of.

supercharging a k8 would be the same as dropping a ze in imo

It prob would be close to the same HP, but TQ...? I still think modding a K8 is a waste of money when compared to a ZE swap.

I don't know how a regular Kl-ze runs, but you should have driven my turbocharged K8 when it ran!!!!! It had a kick in the @ss at 4K that was scary!!

well with the new ZE's that have been popping up here and there from the millenias in Japan it would be more worth your while to get that one IMO.... 9.2:1 compression ratio, 190 hp to start imagine the advantage over those DE's with Turbos or Supers in respect to potential

Millenia in japan

Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)
