Hi,
My 92 GS has a real problem starting, it seems to get worst in cold and damp. I have to crank a long time and even then it stumbles initially...
Any typical culprits?
Also, I have nice, clean oil in my spark plug wells(mainly front bank, passenger side) Is this a typical 1.8 v6 problem, and how would I fix this. My first and only problem with the car has been a distributor (CDN 600 down the pipes)...
Thanks for your help.

The oil in spark plug wells is a fairly common prob. You will need to change the valve cover gaskets, and since its on the front of the engine its the easy one.
As for the hard start. It could be your distributor cap is cracked, moisture (cold damp) will get in and make it hard to start. Or possibly a bad spark plug wire, or fouled plugs, among many other things.
I would also recommend looking in the online shop manual and following the procedures if the items above are not the cause.

hope it helps

Thanks for the help.
Is there anything I should know about replacing that vavlve gover gasket? Anything that would be a good idea to do while I'm at it?
Again, thanks for the input.

The motor is on the outs as soon as $$$ permits to make room for a 2.5. Appearance is not an issue. I'm still doing my research, thinking Millenia Miller Cycle... Hmmm(yes, Iknow that its not a 2.5 but it has the positive pressure)
Re: Starting Problems - Pls Help
The Millenia Miller cycle would be a dream transplant, but the only ECU that you can get for that engine expects an ATX.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
