Re: V12 anybody
not sure I understand your idea.
You want to put 2 V6 engines in an Audi TT or the MX3?
and 2 V6 engines in a MX3?????

Re: V12 anybody
From what I hear, the TT has the second engine in the rear, not inline, so I suppose it's plausible. The question, however, is why??
Re: V12 anybody
Would the wieght to the second engine be a factor.
I think it would coast too much.

Re: V12 anybody
I saw it done once in a Hyundai. One in the front and one in the trunk. It was an interesting idea but I dont think I would go through all that trouble since you can just use that money to put stuff on your engine already.

Re: V12 anybody
2 KLZE's would net about 400hp. Handling will suck- but straight line would be crazy.
If you think you can do it- DO IT.
Just some things to think about- You'll have to relocate the gas tank, Figure out how to drove the rear wheels, build motor mounts and subframes out back, and a million other things. Is it impossible- no. Is it extremely difficult- yes.

Re: V12 anybody
Car & Driver did the same thing to a CRX decades ago. The most difficult thing was to tune both engines to respond to throttle the same way. Mismatched front and rear wheel speeds on acceleration is probably a strange and not fun sensation.
What any of this has to do with a V12, I don't know.

Re: V12 anybody
Theres this place in Toronto (Evolution, Dufferin& Dupont) That did this very project only the did a Golf GTI with double VR6 engines and standard transmissions. Looks sick and the dude says it all works just fine (something tells me he was lying) But I believed him when he said it WASNT WORT THE WORK. Any one living in the GTA should stop in and check it out..
Re: V12 anybody
the reason is I can't get reasonable insurance on the car at the moment so it's just sitting there, and I can't sell it coz few people can insure it so I decided I wanted to do something insane but doable coz I really DONT WANT TO SELL IT. it's just too good to leave go
Re: V12 anybody
any idea what sort of 0 - 60 times she should put in? I've already toasted my friends GT4 and my engines bog standard

Re: V12 anybody
I saw the dual engine TT on TV today. Each 1.8T engine was boosted to 425 HP!!!! So the car had over 800 HP total!!! IT looked fast as snot, too.
Re: V12 anybody
I have seen duel engine cars before including a dule engine caddie with 2 northstar engines. My thought is it will jsut cost so much. Besides fule tank relocation (easly get a fuel cell) you would have to make a fire wall for the rear engine and find a way to cool it. The tranies would be some what hard to make sure they stay in the same gear unless they are manual or you shift two auto tranies with one shifter. Then you have to tune both engine to resond the same. Then you have to rig a new exhaust, set up rear wheel drive axels, rig throttel cables, and a million other lill things.
If the hp is truly aditive and you get 400 hp you shoudl run the quarter mile in about 11.5 secs acording to a 1/4 mile calculator

I've two very handy friends to help out one mechanical enginerr anda metal fabricator plus a few local engineering shops and car shops are interested too, and there both manual trannys by the way. Think I'll need custom shocks too for the back but there easily available here on mail order.
