Fans constantly running.

Post by AuRa »

I just bought a '92 mx-3 with the 1.8. My problem is that the coolant fans are constantly on. Now I own a Probe GT with the 2.5 and both engines are similar, but the 1.8 has 2 coolant tempreture sensors. I checked both of them and they are working properly, the relay is working as well. The fans come on like 5 seconds after starting the car. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

nope checked that too, the clutch on the a/c compressor is not engaged, and its the cooling fan that comes on first, then the fan for the a/c comes on. its really weird!

I may be way off base here but have you checked the TPS to make sure it is correctly setup. If it is rotated too far round your fan will be on at idle even when not needed. Check this write up for instructions on how to adjust.<p>http://www.rs-productions.com/RSP_Motors/tech/tps/tps.htm
