cv joints

Post by Coodoodxx »

Hey guys, ive heard clunking in my front wheel area for a while now, and am thinking most likely its the cv joints, ive also noticed a little less control of my car at higher speeds. Just wondering how long i can go with messed up cv joints b4 somthing bad happens, and if this lack of control has anything to do with the cv joints. I also noticed in my tire well inside the front drivers side spring that the rubber boot inside is ripped, how much of a problem would that be. Thanks guys appreciate it.

that rubber boot is part of your axle, you might as well replace the whole thing. I drove on mine for a while and nothing happened.

yeah i'm replacing mine tomorrow.
i've had this problem for a while the only real bad thing is that it has worn down the edges on a brand new tyre.
on cornering when first used my car judders. i isolated this down to the nearside cv joint as the boot went a while back then the problem got worse. but once it's been used a while the car stops doing it!

Just a heads up, I waited for a long time before I replace mine, and mine actually snapped. Luckily I made it back to my driveway when it totally let go. If I pressedon the gas and let the clutch out you could see the axel flying around. So be very careful and dont get caught somewhere away from home because you will not be able to move. Get it replaced ASAP, its not worth it.
