why oh why.. (gear engaging issues)

Post by eunosads »

as some of you may know, I had a 2.5 V6 installed in my 30X (MX-3) recently.. this is not an issue.. (well.. some who know me know that it in fact is, but anyhoo.. )
ok.. my problem is that it is often VERY hard to get my car to go into 1st gear.. and sometimes 2nd and other gears as well..
standard 5spd manual from 1.8 V6...
I have tried all the tricks as far as actually getting it into gear.. and often there are only two things that work.. either turning the car off, then sliding into 1st and starting.. or literally JAMMING that puppy right on in there.. I don't like doing that but when you are at lights with 10 cars behind you, or doing a 3 point turn across the highway.. hehe.. you kinda have no choice..
I have also noticed.. only once or twice.. but when I do try turning off the engine, putting it in 1st, putting my foot firmly on the clutch, and starting the car again (on flat ground) I start creeping slowly forward as though I have my foot slightly riding the clutch..
this seems to only happen when everything is fully warmed up... either after a long drive, or a lot of time sitting in traffic, or whatever..
now.. my initial thought is there is something wrong with my clutch..
but what else could be causing this?
I should tell you more about what I did when I installed the engine..
I had the synchros (sp?) replaced on 1st 2nd & 3rd and also had a clutch custom made and installed.. I also have a B&M short shifter and bronzoil bushings, but these have been in for months before the engine was swapped etc..
this was happening the very first day I picked the car up and I told my mech, he said it's just the clutch wearing in etc etc.. "it'll be OK"....
I had no reason to doubt him..
that was about 2000kms ago now..
what are your thoughts?.. I don't really know even where to start...
let me know.. thanks..
@ds

I imagine your clutch engages right off the floor. You can get a stainless steel clutch line(corksport), and make a new rod that is 3 3/4" long by 1/4" diameter for the slave cylinder. Then you can adjust the clutch pedal from inside the car, behind the pedal itself. You need 2 12mm wrenches. Good luck.
