Idling and ???
Okay, I know nothing very little about cars, but I had a problem with my car. (Basically, I'm posting to make sure I didn't get ripped off by mechanic, and I'll tell you what his solution was later in this post).
My MX-3 starts fine (parked in underground garage), but after a few minutes of running, the engine will start to rumble. I usually do a lot of short driving (I know not good), so I noticed the following after I stopped at my destination 5 minutes away. After trying to restart, the shaking of the engine was excessive. Idling was erratic. After giving it some gas, no problem and the engine felt normal. But then putting it in gear, the engine felt like it wanted to cut out. I gave it some more gas (almost redlining) and fine, the car started to crawl up to speed. But the problem reappeared at every stop light and sign, and near the end of my very long 1km drive, I ended up running stop signs, just so I wouldn't have to deal with the problem.
Anyways, I guess I found this site too late, and I ended up getting my distributor assembly replaced, along with the crank angle sensor. My question is, does this sound like the right solution, and would $1000 for distributor assembly be an excessive price to pay?

$1000 Canadian, that's like $50 US, right?
Just kidding, that sounds a little steep to me. A disty is easy to replace. Save some dough, replace your own.
