Help on brake removal
hey guys !
I have a couple short questions for u.
I have a 92 GS whoo needs new rotors and pads. I got the parts no problem there.
First question: how do u get the piston on the calliper to go back far enough to leave enough room to put the new pads on ?
Second how in hell do u get the rotors out ?
I mean I got 2 screws off which I thought were holding the rotors and it will then pop out but nothing. Do I have to remove the centrtal piece that look like a cap ?
Please don't tell me to check in the manual, I've looked already and don't see so abswer for my problem. Please reply ASAP that job can't wait any longer.
I would appreciate all the help I can get

Re: Help on brake removal
if its the front caliper you can use a c clamp to push the piston in far enough to get the pads on,if its the rear calipers you have to screw the piston in. for the rotors you dont have to remove the centerpiece the rotor should come off after the caliper is removed, but with a lot of rotors they get stuck from rust so you might have to hit them with a hammer or mall to break them loose,it worked for me
all i ask is that morgan die in a car crash

Re: Help on brake removal
I find that a set of Channel-locks works just fine.

Don't forget to lube the sliders with brake fluid.

Re: Help on brake removal
thx guys. Also did those screws hold them in place ? Because on the new ones I got from Autozone, I don't see no holes for the screws to fit in.

Dude, you gotta also watch for the "sliders" that dont really slide.. when you get your new rotors on, make sure you can get the caliper on with a lubed slider, cuz otherwise later on.. they aint sliding!!

Re: Help on brake removal
Ok, The above is correct except that on the 92 GS. ( the only MX-3 I have experience with) The piston on the front calipers also screw in. Push the piston in as far as it will go with the C-Clamp or piston compressor if you have one. If you find your new rotors are still to thick to fit properly that means you will have to screw the piston in until it fits properly.
Rik
