Does anyone have the instructions on how to make the shifter a short shifter without buying the pacesetter kit?

I needed something to hold me over till I got a pacesetter....so I cut the shifter with a saw..then i got a shorter shift knob..which was a b---- to tighten because I just cut all the thread away, plus you have to shave the sides to be thinner becuase its too thick to fit any shift knob onto. I had to tighten it by using the scuzzies (tiny screws) it comes with and electrical tape...all in all.. its really not worth it..go buy the pacesetter. good luck

Pull the shifter out of the car. Cut the shaft under the ball. Weld an extra inch or so into place. Put it back in the car. I believe that one inch reduced the throw by about 30%. I can't remember who's page has the directions but there isn't much to it.
