Experiencing engine noise. Advice needed.

Post by Rufus »

Hi everyone
I can hear some funny noise in the engine - like slightly tapping valves and something else (difficult to describe). I was told that it might be the hydrolic valve lifters. Has anyone else had this problem, and how can I fix it? I've had a suggestion to put in some oil additive called Promar and run it on some special Mazda oil. Can I use some decent aftermarket (semi-)synthetic oil?
Thanx in advance

Yes, it is probably HLA (Hydraulic Lash Adjuster) noise. Low oil level will definitely cause this.
Lots of info posted previously about this if you're willing to search.
