HELP!!! Leaking oil!!
HELP!!! Leaking oil!!
Hi everyone,
I'm new here.
My friend bought a '92 mx-3 1.8 V6 just recently and we've discovered a problem with the second cylinder (front bank, left one) spark plug - I pulled out the plug wire and it was all covered in oil as well as all around the spark plug itself. It's leaking oil deep somewhere around the spark plug. What is the problem there? Is it the head gasket or something else? If it's the head gasket, how difficult is it to change?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.

Re: HELP!!! Leaking oil!!
If you're just going to change the valve cover gaskets, it shouldn't take too long, possibly an hour or hour an a half at most. Just remember not to over tighten the bolts because they crack easily. Also, if you're going to change the valve cover gaskets, you could do preventive maintenance and change the intake manifold gaskets too, or you could wait until you start seeing oil in the rear spark plug wells. Also, just as a heads up, changing the intake manifold gaskets are a major PITA..
