Cold air intake and idle
Cold air intake and idle
Anyone here ever tried the ractive cold air intake tube on our cars. I talked to a guy who put a 92-94 civic tube on our car. He said he had to trim a little but it fit. I didn't know if he did anything else to it.<P>and my car has been idling funny since it got cold. When I start it idles at 1500rpms until its warms up then drops down. Is this normal for cold weather?

Re: Cold air intake and idle
It's normal for the Engine thermometer to read low temperatures(especially with a aftermarket or home depot intake). To heat up the engine faster, it accelerates idle speed. It's just normal engine operating procedure. It would be more of a problem if it didn't do that!

Most civic intakes are designed like s---, and i would touch them. 3" intakes will kill power on these cars. It needs more intake velocity, unless youre running a KL or FI.
