Optima Yellow Top

Post by Custommx3 »

Anyone have one of these?
Im adding alot of electronics to the GS and Im looking to get the best I can get(resonably speaking). Anyone have one installed in the front bay?
I am looking for a part number that will fit.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you have pics, Id like to see one installed just out of curiosity.

I have a red top (2 actually, one in the trunk) and i think its the same size as a yellow top, i get come pics for ya when i get home...

But while on the subject of Yellow Tops...in the past, me and my dad kept on blowing deep cycle batteries while using the trucks charging system through in isolator. We used the batttery to power the camper's power when use we camped without 110v, but after a few charges, it wouldnt accept a charge, this was replaced 3 times and we eventualyl gave up. For what i know, deep cycle batteries like to be slow charged, and discharged fully before the next charge, which isnt the case in a car, but alot of people used them as their primary battery in car audio systems and have no problem.

I've got the RS, but I find that the SVR 80-12 is tons better than the Optima Yellow top. It doesn't cost much more and it's a beefier battery.

www.svrbatteries.com You have to modify the tray the battery sits on only slightly but it doesn't effect the battery moving around b/c it's in their snug. JustMyOpinion

People who go through alot of batteries typically like SVR or Interstate better. I had a yellow top a long time ago, and it blew my alternator. I personally like the Red Top better. The Red Top has more CCA under cold conditions anyways. A Yellow Top isn't really necesarry unless you listen for EXTENDED periods of time with the car off. Like using it as a boombox at a picnic. Under normal conditions, I've never completely discharged a battery (even cheap OEMs) no matter how much power I've run.
