I've been driving around in my mx for about a year now with no fuel needle, time to fix it. I have a spare gauge cluser with a spare coolant needle, sorry to say but no fuel gauge to swap over :(, and electrics...was wondering if somebody could send me a pic of the rear of the fuel gauge assembly ...

Was sitting at the set of lights earlier today and this very strange, bizzare even, rattling noise started to come from the engine bay. I turned off my ac and the noise stopped, turned it back on it was back to normal.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy a whole cluster. The wreckers have one for $AU 110, that sucks but i guess it'll have to do. Thanks.

Friendlyhacker, I would personally put a small filter onto the hose...cause i don't think unfiltered air is very healthy even in small doses, as it adds up ...

I had a very simlar problem, the car would start for weeks then would have trouble for a day or two then fine again.
Then one day it would just crank and crank but not fire. Check your spark on your wires they should be a strong spark goes at least a cm. If this only has a tiny spark or a weak ...
