Re: Has the idle stall issue been resolved yet?

I'll certainly try your suggestion. I remember messing with the air screw on the TB a long time ago, don't remember setting it all the way up to 1500 while cold in Park.

I actually have a whole spare intake plenum with throttle body and rubber air pipe (with air sensor I believe). I got that a LONG ...

Has the idle stall issue been resolved yet?

I used to visit this forum a few years ago. At the time there were a ton of people looking for a fix to what appeared to be a common idle issue with 4 Cylinder MX-3's. The symptoms were that the car would start and idle, sometimes dipping into low idle, when putting it into gear or coming to a stop ...

I went back to the local auto parts store and they were able to find the part (after much searching).

The guy who found the part said it was called the Cooling Fan Switch (in case that helps anyone in future searches).

I want to thank everyone who helped.

It looks most like the first link you sent.

I will be pulling the part tonight, hopefully I can find a part number on it.

I will update later tonight or tomorrow hopefully.

Thank you

I just went to my local autoparts store.

I asked for a coolant thermo switch, they handed me the water thermo switch (what I originally replaced, biggest different is the water thermo switch has two blades and the coolant thermo switch has a single blade), I said that wasn't the part.

I asked if ...

Thank you Grants.

I grounded the black/green wire that connects to the coolant temperature sender with the car on and the fans work.

I will be picking the coolant temperature sensor up today.

The sensor was located between the intake and the valve cover.

It doesn't appear corrosion would be the issue. I tested at the connect closest to the fan and at the relay with a straight connection to the battery and it work.

The issue would have to be from the relays back.

Cooling fans do not come on

Car: 1993 Mazda MX-3 1.6 liter 4 cylinder

Pulled the check engine light codes for my car, the only one I got was for the water thermosensor. Replaced that and after idling for a while (idled beautifully, unlike before), I noticed the cooling fans never kicked on. They didn't prior to the water ...

interior styling

I have the 92-93 style interior.
92-93 interior
Is there anyway to convert the dash to the 94+ style? I don't like the squared vents, I want the rounded dash. Is there a kit? Are there any articles that explain how to do this? or am I on my own to go out and get that interior and fit it myself ...

idle problem

My car will idle at around 2000 rpms. When you're under the hood you can push the throttle and it lowers the idle down to around 1000rpms.
What do I need to fix that? What is the best rpm range to idle at?
I was thinking new throttle cable/assembly?
93 1.6L

air intake

Is there any place that specifically sells aftermarket intakes for mx3's?
I saw the post about using Bomz Racing's Protoge's cold air intake... but is there anything else or would I have to buy that and get it to fit?
I have a 93 1.6L
[ June 15, 2003: Message edited by: maxx ]
