Hi all,
93mx3 v6 1.8l. I'm getting the egr code. I want to take it off and try cleaning it, looked today but couldn't find it!! I checked under the airbox, under the disty well, basically anywhere I could see without crawling under the car
Is that where it is? Underneath?
I have to get an emissions ...

Re: higher profile tires
Yes, it does have abs. I found the hose/wire going to the disc.
The rear hubs with abs have the toothed gear looking thing on them....no abs, no toothed thing.
At least thats what I seem to be seeing in pics of the different hubs.
Every parts place I've phoned has asked if it has abs..and the abs ...

Re: higher profile tires
Does the 93 gs have abs?
You're probably right, I'm sure the bearings are the culprit. Needed new tires anyway.
but to get the right bearings I need to know if its got abs or not. Is it automatically abs if there are rear discs? Or do I need to look for a sensor?

Re: higher profile tires
Thanks guys,
I picked up the tires last night and will be putting them on tonight. I'm getting a loud humming sound in the car, gets really loud between 60-80kph, then it goes away. Sounds like its coming from the rear. So since my back tires are pooched anyway (quite bald in the centers) I figured ...

higher profile tires
My 93 gs has 205/55-15 tires on it right now. I am looking at a set of yokahamas for the rear that are 205/60-15. Not too much difference right? Should be ok? There looks to be enough clearance...but just want to be sure.

surging idle gone but....
So a 'friend' of mine (who is a mechanic), was driving my car last night and heard the idle surging at a stop. He said it was usually the IAC motor and asked if I had tried running without the iac hooked up. I said no, so we decided to give it a shot. He unplugged it, and the surging idle stopped ...

Re: changed disty, lots of smoke
Good point, I put new plugs in last night so they are fresh and I can get a more accurate reading from them. I just dont want to drive too much if it is running lean and risk seizing up.
I'll check tonight, that will be almost 100 km on the new plugs.

Re: changed disty, lots of smoke
The smoke is gone, think it was just from sitting, or excess fuel unburnt from trying to start it so much before changing disty.
Anyway, problem is, I changed my plugs last night and it is running lean. They are white/grey.
Im sure this is just a matter of adjusting stuff due to the new disty ...

Changed my disty, and got some new plug wires cause found two of mine screwed. So, car runs good, nice and smooth but i have quite a bit of white smoke coming from exhaust.checked the oil, it looks fine, dont smell coolant. Could this be from the car sitting for a few days? Or could it be running ...

Re: no spark code 1
I got a disty from the wreckers. Came out of a running car they just got in a day ago...so its got a 4 month warranty on it.
Put it in, starts up but sputters. Tonight I'm going to try to set the timing on it.
Half way there!! Thanks for all the help guys, you guys are great!

Re: no spark code 1
Looks like I'm going to have to go that route. The one on kijiji turned out to be for a 4 cyl. damn.
I was really hoping to get it fixed tonight.
oh well.

Re: no spark code 1
I would post here and get one from someone here but I really need to get this NOW. This is my to and from work vehicle, I dont have another one.
By the time payment went through and I waited for the part to be shipped to me, it'd be more than a week.
I can get this one tonight.

Re: no spark code 1
I would love to do the HEI mod but after looking through the details and instructions I think thats a little beyond my capabilities. I suck with electrical stuff. Freaks me out and never turns out good for me.
So I think I'll just get another disty and take my chances for now.

Re: no spark code 1
So I checked my plug...it was good and tight. Bummer, was really hoping for the easy solution. oh well.
Is there a way to test the ignition coil inside the disty, the rotor does turn when I crank the engine....just a side note.
What sucks is that I dont get paid til friday so my car sits for the ...
