everyone who has or had safc, afpr and larger injectors.

Post by Steeb »

wassap f/i guys! i still have a na mx3 but i know lots of you are having issues with the safc , a-fpr and larger injectors. i DO NOT plan to go the safc route but id like to find out everyones setups with the safc working properly or not. the reason is because i know that many people building mx3's will not be going for huge power so mild adjusting may be enough tuning.

the main reason i feel we can solve this is because i know of many people with other makes and models running the same safc and a-fpr setup on cars running a good amount of power and no weird fuel pressure issue like many of you have.

im sure i can find out what the issue is and make this an option for the penny pincher tooner. so please help me find the solution for u who are considering using the safc route.

please list your specific details of things you have done to fuel system.

some details below would help also.
did u set the safc settings to match your car before tuning?
do u know if your afpr is functioning properly?
are your injectors too large for an safc?
are u using stock fuel rail? if so do u know if there is a pressure drop between the injectors at higher fuel rail pressures causing the irregular fluctution in fuel pressure?
can your return line flow as much fuel as u are trying to move?
is your fuel pump running out of steam?
is it tuned? what did u use to tune it with? dyno? driving around? wideband? guessing?
how old are your ground wires?
did u retard base timing and fuel pressure at idle before reducing fuel with the safc?

if there are other things u feel u should include please do so.

i am here to help u people figure this out because it IS the safest way to properly use and make the most of an safc is in conjunction with the afpr so i feel it is necessary to find out what causes the strange fuel issues. using the safc alone is very unsafe since it automatically advances timing as it leans out the afr's which is definately not what you want if u are running a good amount of boost. the better u can tune the more drivable it will be
