installed my shifter today!!
after quite a bit of hassle, a few swear words, and a lot of rubber grease.. I got it in.. no-one told me it would be hard..

couple of things to note..
the main problem I had is that the two o-rings had expanded in the heat (35deg C today) so they weren't goin as they should.. and by the time I had gotten the bright idea to pop 'em in the freezer, they were too stretched.. I got around this by taking one of them off and using just one ring.. seems to be fine..
look here for pics of shifter with o-rings

another prob I had was that the dust boot on the base of the shifter was gettin in the way without me knowing it.. so for anyone who'll be installing this in future, just keep that in mind..
now that it is all installed, it is great.. the actual shifter sits about an inch lower than stock.. but the throw of the shift is fantastic and precise.. a lot shorter than stock.. reminds me of an S2000 shift..
I have one lingering problem though.. the whole shifter assembly seems to move around a lot.. the shaft doesn't move side to side like it used to (4-5" distance side to side.. ).. but the whole thing seems to move within it's rubber casing.. particularly noticeable when i am in 2nd and blip the throttle and back off a little.. it's the whole engine moving.. and I know that includes the tranny.. it just seems to be very bad.. and particularly in an up and down motion... more so than side to side..
now.. I am pretty sure I know what the cause of this is.. but I am unsure how to fix it.. when I was installing the shifter.. there are sort of two rubber tabs on the left and right sides of the rubber *bush* that surrounds the whole assembly.. these two tabs were ripped off there spot.. and the whole bottom "arm" of the shifter (the one that isn't attached to the shifter and doesn't move when shifting) is able to move up and down relatively freely..
any ideas on how to fix this? it seems to be a part that would not be easily replaceable, if at all..
I think I have a pic of the bottom of what I am talking about..

I am sorry for rambling on so much.. I just hope someone can help me.. this thing cost me a fortune and i fear damaging it...
I've posted on pt.com, yahoogroups, and mx6.com as well just to let you know..
Thanks
@ds
