turbo for the bpt???

Post by natural born honda killer »

well ive been wondering about when i do a turbo upgrade on my bpt about which turbo i should get. ive talked to derrick at corksport and he said they have a t-28 that im guessing is just the guts of a t-28 put into a vj-20 housing. know im wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to which i should go for. these are the specs im wanting out of my car for now. (i do have to maintain streetabe driving as this i my only car) so with that said im not looking to break any records at the moment. :) i would like to have a turbo with as little lag as possible. i do know that its inevitabe so im planning on having some. i would like to be able to have about 275-280 whp. even 250 whp is more than enough with this light of a car. but id like to have as little lag as possible with a descently good amount of power. i know the tranny starts crapping on itself at about 300 hp. cant remember if its whp or at the crank. so im content with having enough power without destroying my tranny. when i get a second car i plan on cryo treating the tranny to beef it up. but thats another deal. anyways im just wondering if you think that the t-28 would fit my needs or is there another turbo that would be a better friend :). well thanks for any info you great guys can give me. :D

I would look into a Mitsubishi 16g or Super 16G. These turbos are capable of 260-300+whp. A T28, depending on the specs not quite as powerful. You may want to consider a T3/TO4E or similar turbo.

thanks. i never thought bout the 16g or the super 16g. definately will look into that. another question about those. if i went with the super 16g would i need to make a mount/bracket to make it fit or what would be the best way to mount it up. i heard you just have to make a bracket but wasnt sure. i might look into gettin one of those. i plan on getting the larsen motorsports manifold also. just to help the air flow.

if you get the larsen manifold, they will fit any mounting plate you need. just tell them what turbo it is. i've been looking into the t3 or the t3/t04e like chris stated.

I would tend to agree with Chris on the TD04 or TD05-16G, as they would go nicely with a stock bottom end BP and over 1 bar of boost.

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.
