Cleaning floormats and carpet?
Does anyone have recommendations on some good products I can use to clean my floormats and carpet? I'm looking for specifics not just generic "carpet cleaner" answers
It would be nice to know what's worked well for you...

Re: Cleaning floormats and carpet?
I have a carpet cleaner that I use. It comes with a small attachment for cleaning small areas, rugs, sofas, etc. Works well

Hand held steam cleaner works well too. What I have used is that carpet foaming cleaner like resolve. spray, rub it in with a brush, let it dry, and vacuum it out. has worked well. but nothing is like a good old fashioned carpet cleaner or steam cleaner

Re: Cleaning floormats and carpet?
When I bought my mx-6, the carpets were at a level of nastiness I had never before seen in my life. Rust spots, grease, dirt, you name it.
So I decided to go for broke, took the whole carpet off the car, pressure washed it, and then, once it dried out, emptied 2 cans of "Tuff Stuff" on them, scrubbed them to death, and pressure washed them again.
As a result, once dry, the carpet was absolutely perfect.
That Tuff Stuff is cheap, but really good.

I could see it for the floormats, but the carpet is a bit more of a PITA. Mine's out on the '93 atm, but it's honestly pretty clean. ;D

Re: Cleaning floormats and carpet?
actually a decent detail shop will do that, of course for a price. It's not as hard as it seems, take out door sill covers, seats, console and you should be able to pop that carpet out of there. I dismantle whole interior (except dash) of a car in 2-4 hours, taking my time labeling all the parts.MrMazda92 wrote:Damn.Inodoro Pereyra wrote:When I bought my mx-6, the carpets were at a level of nastiness I had never before seen in my life. Re: Cleaning floormats and carpet?
I've taken many soiled and stained carpets and laid them out in my drive way using laundry detergent to clean them. I moisten them with the garden hose then pour the soap mixed with water from a pail onto the carpets. Use a stiff floor broom and brush/scub the soap over the carpets adding a little concentrated soap onto the heavily soiled areas. Finally blast the soap and dirt away with the garden hose sweeping from one end side to side to the other end and hang the rugs over something to dry. If you do the floor carpet and not just the mats, once the carpet is almost dry place it back in the car so it can shape itself to the floor again before completely drying.
