Re: RUNNING RICH
Rail on me all you want kid, at the end of the day we all know you for what you are.
If you smell unburned fuel at the end of your exhaust, while gray-ish smoke is pouring out, and have visible carbon buildup on the exhaust tip, then you can safely assume you're running rich. Now, testing it after you've come to this inclusion is a no brainer; Oddly enough, I already dealt with it. Guess what too, I was running rich; Imagine that.
I know you're going to argue, like you always do, to try and make up for the inadequacies of your real life; So I implore you, exercise self control. Show me that you have the capacity to shut your mouth, even if it takes undeniably sound logic being spoon-fed into your stubborn skull to do it.

Re: RUNNING RICH
That's not at all the case. The perfect example is J-Beef. He was obsessed with trying to get his car to not "run rich". It did physically show black exhaust on his white rear bumper, but when it came time for emission test, it never had a problem, I'm pretty sure he never had to run as hot rod. We're not running on water, there's not nice stuff coming out of our mufflers. It doesn't mean there's an issue with the motor, could easilly be the catalytic converter not doing it's job too. These are old car too with old tech too, nothing close to being LEV certified.MrMazda92 wrote:If you smell unburned fuel at the end of your exhaust, while gray-ish smoke is pouring out, and have visible carbon buildup on the exhaust tip, then you can safely assume you're running rich. Besides for wear, almost every system that's controlling the motor, from the VAF, coolant sensor, IAT and 02 sensors can all make the car run rich. Even problems in the ignition system (plugs, wires, cap, etc) can cause incomplete combustion. Don't forget Mr. EGR
Cause one thinks he's "running rich" doesn't mean he is until a probe proves it. And it's not an easy to pinpoint issue, so that's alot of guess work and potentially wasted money on a problem that may or may not exist.

Re: RUNNING RICH
Wow I forgot all about this thread. That post must have hit a nerve for you. Poor baby. In case you can't read, which could very well be the case given your misconception of things, I'll clarify for you. Nowhere did I say that you running rich wasn't a possibility, I said not to make assumptions until you can confirm it for sure. Mixing opinions with facts gets you nowhere.MrMazda92 wrote:Rail on me all you want kid, at the end of the day we all know you for what you are.

I know you're going to argue and make up more stupid sh*t, like you always do, because you've got an ego issue and you can't stand being wrong but at least don't pollute the forum with your BS. It's not helping anyone.

Re: RUNNING RICH
I don't know about you guys, but I'd trust my nose more than an 02 sensor. Personally, I find that there are rather large differences between how my cars smell.... And since our narrow band O2's have a shitty a-- resolution, and most global MX-3 drivers still run factory ones....
Have none of you noticed that a car without a cat smells way different? It even makes your mouth a little dry-ish feeling driving behind a vehicle without one.
Rich smells way different than oil, and freakishly different than coolant. I've had cars that burn them all. I think with a good brain between your ears and a few other ques, a human and its sensory equipment can make a decent diagnosis... I wouldn't tell you I can say exactly how much it burns, but I'd say its very possible to distinguish between if its a problem or not.

Re: RUNNING RICH
I now own the J Beef mobile and there is black soot that accumulates on the rear end but I attribute a little of that to the aerodynamics caused by the combat spoiler. I am running a 2.5 inch exhaust and that will cause an engine to run a little richer. That being said Googling rich running engines will reveal a wealth of info, maybe try that. Finally, I love these petty bickerings. Always brings a smile to my face. Thanks guys and keep up the dirt slinging.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
