Ive been asking around and looking for turbo pipes for the 1.6L SOHC B6 and noone has one but i happened to see a custom turbo flange that can weld onto exhaulst manifolds. Is it possible if i cut my headers off past where the 4 pipes merge and weld this onto the manifold.

If its possible i think i might do this and its cheaper too get that and weld it on.
Would this work for me?

that is just a basic turbo flange. they are a dime a dozen. You may have a bit of an issue getting cast iron welded to mild steel. I am also not too sure but your turbo may not have enough clearance if you could get a flange welded to your mani. Just swap out the engine if you really want more power. It'll cost soo damn much to do it right.

i already got a T28 turbo and it fits with plenty of clearance and im sure it should weld. i dont have the money to do a swap and a swap would be more expensive not my setup.RS_OBD'oh_2 wrote:that is just a basic turbo flange. they are a dime a dozen. Re: Would this work for me?
If the swap is more expensive, then you are doing it wrong. A good turbo build (not including engine work) should cost several thousand. 3-5.nnblackgt wrote:i already got a T28 turbo and it fits with plenty of clearance and im sure it should weld. i dont have the money to do a swap and a swap would be more expensive not my setup.
turbo 500-2000
intercooler 150-500
I/C pipes 100-200
fuel injectors 100-300
fuel pump 100
fuel pressure regulator 100-300
air fuel guage (wide band) 250-400
boost guage 100-300
bov 175-350
clutch 300-500
manifold 200-600
silicone couplers and T-bolts 100-200
fuel/engine management 400-2000
Feel free to add some extras for oil, coolant, vac lines and misc bolts and washers
I'm guessing your turbo has an integral w/g.

Welding cast is a pain in the a--.
You have to heat it cherry red and then weld with a high nickel content filler rod.
And then cool very slowly.
Contact Jwmotorsports and see if he will build you a sohc manifold.

Welding cast you should have use of a kiln and be experienced with cast welding or your asking for trouble.

+3 Dont even try to weld cast. If you do it wrong your turbo+ flange will break off while driving and oooops there goes your turbo. JWMotorsports is welding up an intake for me as we speak. He does good work!Daninski wrote:Welding cast you should have use of a kiln and be experienced with cast welding or your asking for trouble.
