turbo oil drain?

Post by Joey's mx »

Ok when i take the oil drain off my oil pan from the turbo should oil come out of the fitting?? I would think that there shouldnt be any oil that high..becaue if there is oil higher than the fitting how would the turbo drain its oil, it would have to force the oil into the pan causing stress on the seals??

Can someone please help me out here!!

The oil drain HAS to be higher then the sump in the oil pan. Where is your oil return fitting at? It should be at the very top of the oil pan.

The fitting is at the very top of the pan!! But when i take the hose off of it oil drains out?? Could this be what is causing the turbo to have oil coming out of the compressor outlet, and smoke out the exhaust??

So oil is draining out of both the hose and the oil pan fitting? How much oil are you using in your engine?

It is a possibility that the turbos oil seals are causing the leakage on the filter side. I would not rule it out. It's also possible that the oil is blowing out the turbine side as well. I would take the down pipe off to confirm that.
