turbo manifold/crossmember problem.
turbo manifold/crossmember problem.
ok turbo still isnt here but i was wondering. i know i need to modify the crossmember but the engine is just hanging their. Can i just cyt the section out that is to low and connect the remaining pices to the mounts? cradle/crossmember dosnt seem to hold the engine up anyways. Anyone think of this b4 or even done it ??

You MUST have that cross member. It holds the engine when it rocks back and forth from the motors exersion. Without it you will have an engine sitting in your lap, a shifter that will not change gears when you are giving it any power and alot of other problems
I cannot see how you could just weld it all together since there have been several times in my cars life that I had to take that thing off to give more access to under the car. Besides if you weld then you can just as easily, if not more easily, reweld the cross member with a dip that gives room for the turbo pipe.

you misundersatand me. it would still be bolted in but just with about a 5 inch gap. that way it wouldnt twist under torque. and its just an idea.

It will not hold anything if not connected to the back half. The metal is not strong enough to hold the motor or hold it when you are getting on the gas. Mazda wouldn't have wasted time or money in making that piece go from the front to back if it wasn't needed.
