neon/dome light

Just got a set of purple neons and since they are not street legal ,I was thinking of wiring them to the dome light so they will turn off and on when I open and shut the doors...Has anyone tried this ? or have any input ?

Personally I see no point in wiring it like this, yes it's something you don't see very often but, daytime your neons will turn on when your doors are shut, what if you want to have the door open and show off your neons....I personally would just recommend saving the hassle with a switch or remote control....if you really want to do it this way, let me know and I'll find out which wires but I wouldn't deal with the hassle personally. Just go to the store and by a $3 switch.

This I don't quite get.....

Anyways to combine both control and automated function of the lights I have wires in a spdt switch and I had one way wired so I can just turn it on or the other way where I can have it turn on when the door opens. Not for neon in my case, just a light I added for the backseat but the wiring is similar.

Pull the dome light console out and probe around with the door opened/closed you'll be able to find out which wire it is.

lol, odd question Greg... i just did the same thing in my cousins Escort. cept the bulb style for the dome was different, his i was able to find where his original bulb pops in, and sodered the wires from the neon bulb to the posts for the dome light. so when the switch is on/off/door, the neon follows suit. i know this dont apply to the MXs.. but still.. my first true mod ive ever done, i was proud of myself so i thought id share..
