Custom user images (Avatars)

Post by zytariuk »

I think that we should be able to deign our own 75x75 user images for our avatars. For example, i would like the below image for my avatar. Who's with me?
Image

I agree, and there wouldn't be any problems of pics being too large.

Why is everyone so critical of Jeff and his site? If you can do it better, go ahead and try. Although I think that many people are loyal to Jeff as the innovator and won't switch.
Starting to think this forum was a bad addition.

Chris not trying to be a pirck but the name of this fourm is "MX-3.com Site and UBB Recommendations". I think this would be the right place to speak on this subject instead of cluttering up other posts or topics.

I agree but it does seem that some people, not necessarily even in this thread are being over critical. There is only so much one can do with the given supply of money that one has. Bandwidth and time are costly. I believe the majority of people who are concerned with this issue have expressed there desires to have avatars active. The decision rests with Jeff and his moderators who volunteer their time. No need to beat the topic to death.

I'll make a quick comment on why we dont do that. Mainly the reason we dont allow them is because each user would have to be custom done in the admin controlpanel. This will take way too much time to do. Also, wach image has to be hosted somewhere. Jeff is the only one who has access to his FTP, which I 100% agree. UBB software doesnt allow you in our version for each user to set up his own avitar. Plus this could be abused, which is why Jeff has issued a concern with sig pics. Remeber you make think its funny, others may not. We get the complaining and the emails regarding that issue. Its a real hassle.

i say **** "funny" pics for the avatars, i agree 100% about that, but what i think should be allowed is being able to have a pic of our car like a couple have, and if someone puts something retarded above their name, no warning, just them ****ing gone, it seems fair to me but meh
peace

I am sure it would be a terrible painful job to upgrade the BBS software as a buddy tried to do it @ newcelica.org and it took the hosting company 2 days to do that,,,, And later he encountered nomourous errors and stuff,,,, :D

I’ve ran a UBB just like this one in the past, it's extremely easy to upgrade it. I think the admin should just collect the custom user images until he gets about 50 or so and then upload em' all...
P.S: I'll gladly host all custom avatars! I've got 128k/sec for upload.
[ February 02, 2003: Message edited by: zytariuk ]
