I bet you'll wind up buying yourself a new distributor to fix it. The transistors that make up the cam position sensor(which dictates when to spark) are weak from factory. They are part of the ignitor module, so if you replace that (if you can find that part) then it may fix your problem.

thanx for all the help.. of course when we went to get the ignition control module they had to order it.. so im playing the waiting game.. I think it would be better to just replace the whole distributor but my dad just ordered the control module, I tried the online manuals but cant find what I need ...
