Tap in to reverse lights

Post by wednesdayslatest »

So my reverse lights don't work so for temporary use I want to tap into an earlier point in to my reverse lights system in order to get the lights to work temporarily so I can pass inspection because its urgent

If someone can let me know where I can take the positive feedback from whether it be a line or a fuse to get a signal sense that would be great

the reverse lights work off a sensor that attaches to the transmission casing.

The wires are prone to breaking off the sensor itself. Probably just need to replace the reverse sensor switch on the transmission.

Yeah I realized that after I went to look the connection was all green so I was going to cut it and redo it but it broke so I'm going to replace the sensor and try to find a way to make it so it doesn't break

But I do have a question it won't harm the system if I put the wires backwards to the sensor right it just won't work as long as I know it doesn't do damage if I connect it incorrectly I won't have a problem I just want to be sure because the sensor plug was cut off

The sensor has no polarity. Its just a switch. Doesn't matter which way the wires go in to it.

Oh the sensor was bad it so it was all green s--- all over it on both the connector on the sensor

Now my signal wire wont start the starter I'm just going to run a momentary switch from the battery to the starter for now I got the relay and I looked at all the fuses but I can't find the relay all the fuses should be good so I'm assuming it's the relay I really need to get into some electrical soon but its really cold I just need to start the car go get the e brake fixed and go pass inspection before my car gets towed out of my apartments so much for the American dream
