Broken Vacuum chamber, can I cap it?

Image <---- Check IT!

So I took my IM off to replace the gasket and was playing with the vacuum chamber and I guess some kind of check valve, anyway, I broke this stuff off, can I cap it off at the IM or will it cause a problem? I see doing a google search that a lot of people just remove them w/o issue. What do you all think? Or can I move the one chamber over and just use one? They are 58 bucks from mazda and I can't ever find a mx-3 in the jy. The Milly IM I have doesn't even have them.

Those are needed for proper VRIS function, youll never get a set off in the JY intact as the heat makes them brittle.

Air has to come through one side, you can probably find something at parts store or ebay.

I suggest you repost this in the [WTB] section asking, Looking to buy VRIS Vac Check Valve and post that pic in your post again. Good Luck. :D

I think for 5 bucks this is worth a try. Mazda wants 36.58. I just found it on that website, you have to search for CHK, not check. Stoopid.

Dealer would be LAST place I'd go, you can almost always find better deals online, ebay etc.
This one might work. I'd email seller and ask him what is the outside diameter

I had to deal with this also, IF you can find one at a JY, I suggest taking it off CAREFULLY, then take it home and put a little bit of oil or butter and then heat the oven to say 160 170 or so and let it sit for maybe 10 15 mins and it should slide off easily.

The only thing that concerns me with aftermarket is the fitment. That dorman one appears to have 2 different ODs. If it doesnt work then I need to replace it with a mazda one, and it will be installed already, so possibly difficult to get my sausage like fingers in there to replace it. I'm going to email that seller on ebay and see if I can get some info.

So I looked a second time on the ebay item and noticed the specifications listed on it, they have it as .124 OD which is 1/8inch. That is the ID size of the vacuum line, so do you really think this will work? I guess I have to wait for the chamber to show up from mazda so I might as well try this for the check and save me 33 bucks.

I would imagine KLDEs have these chambers as well since these have vris, if I was to go to the JY and I am really careful, can I pull one and will it fit on the K8's IM?

These are on the lot here.

UPDATE*

So the Vacuum chambers are a wee bit different. The second one is fine, the first one however has another vacuum line from the top.

Image

The KLDE chambers had a second vacuum line coming off the left side where the K8 was capped, do you think I can just run the vacuum that normally goes in that first chamber on the K8 chambers, into the KLDE's left most chamber instead of the cap?
