Hi Guys,
I bought a spare KLDE to fool around with but it has some broken bolts.

Here is one in the blok that should hold the transmission

What are suggestions to get this out ?
Heat the surrounding area ?

Soak in penetrating oil first, then use an stud extractor/ EZ-out. Although you have a fair bit poking out so you could try a pair of mole grips on it first and give it a bit of back and forward motion to try and crack it off?!

If all that fails weld another bolt to it or drill it out a re-tap the hole oversize.

Simply drill the existing bolt out. When you drill out the bolt the heat from drilling will help loosen it's threads then just use an easy out to remove the remainder. I'm sure there are plenty of videos about this on youtube. I would stay away from any kind of welding as the heat may damage the surrounding metal.

I haven't watch this entire video but it appears to suit the bill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMrDYJvY0Ts

When you first start to drill if the drill isn't right in the middle you can angle the drill bit and keep drilling until it's in the middle then carry on straight in. Check one of the other corresponding hole to give you an idea of the depth of the hole so you don't drill too far or like wise not far enough. If you need to retap the hole you may need to buy a 'bottoming tap' if it's a blind hole.

See before I drilled that I would put a flat head notch in it, as there is enough sticking out. Then I would use my hammer and driver and try and tap it out. If that failed then I would follow what Dan said :)

you must be careful when using an easy out, if you have the cheap harbor freight ones they can and will snap off in the hole then you have a bigger headache on your hands..

Haha. Been there.

Drill it. Extract it.

Ha, I did that once on a broken header bolt. Worked like 40. :D
