mazda3 skyactiv, mazdaspeed2, cx5, mazda6 2013?

I went to the mazda dealer last week because I was really interested in the mpgs for the new skyactivs. They are quite fun to drive even though they aren't the quickest, I think they would give a stock gs a good run. The shifting in the cars are nice, short, and feel great! If you hop into the sedans they are even lighter than the hatchs but seem to handle the corners just fine when taking it fast. Got done with the test drives and drove a 2.5(feels almost as quick as a stock probe gt or mx6 ls) and the 2012 mazdaspeed3! Yeah, speed3 is a beast! :D Anyways, I started talking to the guy about the new mazdas that they might have lined up for this year. He said the mazda 2 will probably be skyactiv, cx5 should be here in march, mazda6 is getting a new platform(shinari?) and they are going to just make the mazda 3s all skyactivs. Not sure if anyone else has any valid info but if I get enough tax money I might down it on a skyactiv because some people are averaging 35city/45highway and it looks better than a prius with more power and you won't have to worry about "toyota moving forward even though you really don't want to." If anyone hasn't tried the skyactiv I think you guys should give it a try if you're looking for some good mpgs or a new car. It's also only being ran on 87 octane so that's also great, well at least here in the US.

They are neat engines.

But I don't want to pay the repair bills when they get 10 years old...

There is alot of engine space and they are ran by a timing chain so I'm not sure how bad or how great they are as in engine life compared to kls but they have less emissions. Every car needs work but going for a test drive never hurts, especially in a new mazda.

Skyactiv maintenance would be way better than a hybrid.

The SkyActive Mazda2 was test for 78mpg in Japan

If I get some decent tax money back, I think I'm going to try the new skyactivs. There throws are nice and short and I think they'd last a long time. They are driven by a timing chain and this is all mazda and not ford now so it should be decent. I want to wait for the cx5 but the 3 just offers better mpg for now. That way I can save some $ for future ze motors and what not. lol.

Glad to see you came round to the idea of a skyactiv 3 over CX-5 ;) haha

I was told that the skyactiv here in the US is only a modified variant of what is to come in 20013-2014. They will get better especially with the addition of the Sky-D..... *drool*

300lb feet of torque... oh yeah..

Well, just drove the cx5! It feels even more powerful than the mazda3 skyg! It's probably the headers that did the trick for sure!

I have the last of the 2011 Mazda 3's before they went to the skyactive. I didnt want to jump onto the new platform until it had been tested, 1st run models tend to have problems. I have also heard they might make some revisions for 2013/14 year.

That said, if they bring the diesel variant here, I am jumping to that as soon as I can afford it.

the guy was saying 2014 they will probably bring the diesel here to the U.S. but idk, i would assume it be here in the 2013 next spring about this same time. even the cx5 is supposed to be diesel soon here. but i think they said the sky3 is supposed to get the headers pretty soon for the 2013 models.
