Yo Doods need a bit of help please. how do you remove the ECU from the car so you can get to the plugs with a nice long bit of lead?

Im trying to remove one from the breakers, Ive got to ECU no problem, but there seems to be like riv-nuts holding a cover in place. Have tried extension bars and sockets from the otherside, but its just not having any of it...

Im wondering is the ECU held into a plate bolted into the body somewhere as I cant see anything, not in the manual have looked and nothing came up from searching here

i think they are on each corner of the ECU or something. I used a 10mm and i don't even think I had to use an extensionn. Just a 10mm and a ratchet.

yeah... just a ratchet? Its not comfortable to do, but kneel on the ground and stick your head under the dash, and bend your wrist funny....

I use a 2" extension on a 1/4" drive.

Yeah I'm mistaken. But I knew it was a 1/4 inch drive

OK great thanks Chaps, have been out looking at mine and identified 3 of them!
left rear looks tricky to get too?! and is the right rear one also holding on the heater unit?

Front left I can find, but dont see one other yet...

the ECU is in the middle right at the firewall, you need to pull out the lower dash panels to gain access to it

*edit*
i just re-read everything and i'll get back to you on how to take it out, i need to go to the garage and take a pic for you

nevermind, i can't seem to find my spare ECU i was going to take pics of to show you the mounts.
but yeah there's 4 10mm bolts at each corner that's holding down metal brackets that are screwed into the ECU with Phillips screws

The one that might be confusing is the LHS one, where its held behind a nut that is also holding some plastic part on.

Crazy off topic comment but OH MY GOD YOU PUT AN MX3 EMBLEM RIGHT ABOVE YOUR PASSENGER GLOVE BOX. That's brilliant and looks awesome!

i actually got that idea off an old member here named Rekognize or something like that, he had a super nice car but he sold it.
here's his worklog if you wanna go through it http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... =Rekognize

i found the ECU and here's a pic of it with the mounting tabs on it where you'll see where the 10mm bolts would be
