I have been trying to find a good post on a 1995 auto to manual conversion and can't find a good step by step. (Probablydue to my searching skills) My main concern is that I do not have the mtx engine harness. I have the ecu. Can someone please help direct me. My outo trans just died and I have everything for the 5 speed switch ready to go and need to fix asap.
Thanks

Josh said, "if your running the auto harness and ecu with a manual MTX you need to tap into the harness for the nutral safety switch and clutch pedal, otherwise it wont do much of anything. there are a couple wright ups on it look for ATX to MTX conversion. i had to do it back in the day when i swapped my ATX to MTX."
So I guess your back to Searching unless some one here has the answer.

Its not very difficult.
Use the wiring diagrams found in the online manual.
Splice the starter interlock switch into the ATX harness in place of the park/neutral switch.
splice the reverse switch on the MTX into the reverse switch on the ATX harness.
If you can't figure it out, I may do a baby step walkthrough sometime in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the responses guys. Very helpful. I read in a couple places that I might have an issue with the vris using the atx harness. Does anyone know if this is true? Also should I stick with the atx ecu or use my mtx one. Hoping to get started on this tomorrow.

Just been reading again on the engine harness issue. I have a 94 b6 dohc which seems to be the only one which has engine harness issues. Right now i am getting nothing at all when I turn the key after my mtx swap. No dash lights or anything. I have wired it as suggested. It's been 5 days of work and I am about to give up. Can anyone please advise or direct me to a good step by step for this specific engine.
Thanks

If you don't get dash lights or anything you have an issue pretty far back.
Battery charged?
Main fuse O.K.?
Start there. Opening the main fuse should cause dash lights to come on unless your dash harness wiring is way off, which it shouldn't be unless you forgot X04 or X06 (black and white plugs under ECM)

Got the car working. Thanks again. Rewired it and that did it. Auto harness and ecu seem to work fine. Also for b6 dohc engines the axles are compatible but the auto connecting shaft was about a half inch longer and would not fit in the mtx. Luckily I took everything off my old manual a couple years ago as I was hoping to switch it someday. Only had 135k on the auto trans and it died over 2 days. Happy to be back to 5 speed but wasn't happy to be forced to do it. Pretty strange driving it for now. I have been driving it for a year and a half as an auto. Don't know why I bought an auto to begin with. Never again.
