Need to know If I need to change the timing best post haste since I do not have any records on the last timing belt change to avoid a potential severe problem.

All the B and K type engines are non interference.
Either way, if you're due to replace the timing belt, it's advisable to do so, if nothing else, to avoid (or at least minimize ;)) the risk of it leaving yo stranded in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night.

Thanks thats a big relief. Now I can schedule it at my leisure instead of panicking and replacing it immediately just to prevent damage.

Do you know what the normal breakage mileage history has been on the oem timing belt as opposed to the aftermarket brands?

timing belts in general are recommended to be changed 50-70k miles. some say 100k miles as well.
since your at 179k miles i would still recommend you change your belt as soon as you can, because even if you break down in town in daytime with a fully charged cellphone, you just added that much more to the cost to the cost of your timing belt change

in my own opinion this shouldn't matter whether its aftermarket or not, even with a gates blue racing belt i would change it at the recommended mileage because the belt may be stronger but that doesn't mean the rubber doesn't all age the same
