My wife has a 95 mx3 with a 94 1.6l b6, the problem is her front timing covers are warped and either they are rubbing against the timing belt idler pulley, or the water pump pulley (it seems to want to switch back and forth between the 2). my question is: a)is there a place that sells new timing covers? I've looked and googled and I have found illustrations but have only found the seals. or b) what harm can be done by removing the stupid warped plastic timing covers?

Just remove the plastic. People (with BP's at least) run without the stupid plastic covers all the time. As long as you don't go offroading and get your engine bay filled with crap, you'll be alright.

I had a similar problem with the timing belt rubbing on the timing cover, and it managed to destroy all three covers before I got the idler pulley and tensioner pulley replaced. The belt also moved far enough away from the engine to destroy itself in the process. So...long story short....here's your info.

There you will find all three timing belt covers. I didn't replace the seal, but that's up to you. You should be able to reuse the rubber gasket if they don't come with a replacement.

i juss took mine off. no big deal.

same here, took my mid cover off. the top cover is built into the valve cover and the bottom isnt really in the way of anything so just yank the mid off. once it starts rubbing the whole damn thing just disintegrates anyways.
