radiator fan

well my battery was dead so i tried jumping it but i noticed my fan is turning on and the engine isnt even hot. the car wont start cause of the battery. im charging it up now, slow charge, but im trying to figure out why the fan is on. when its cold. any info would be helpful.

faulty coolant temp sensor/fan switch that thinks your car is running hot and telling the fan to turn on or a bad relay

Sorry for the grammar. I was in a hurry to get the question asked and then get to my dads for the battery charger.

If your coolant sensor reads infinite resistance (broken connector, bad thermosensor) the car turns the fan on for safety, because it can't tell how hot the engine is anymore.

Yeah I think im gonna try to replace all my sensors soon, just to spoil my engine. With the rad fan runnin constantly it wont do too much damage will it?
