Megasquirt questions

Post by WhiteFinish »

I have some questions about megasquirt

- What could I use switchable table'\s for ?

- How could you programme the Programable Output to controle VRIS 1 and 2 ? (connect them into the harness and tuning them in Megatune)

Thanks

Switchable tables usually for nitrous oxide or LPG if you have the new MS. Maybe race fuel? I doubt you'll be using them, most don't.

Outputs I have no experience with. Would guess you just set the trigger to RPM, set the value eg 4000rpm, then wire it into the solonoid activating the VRIS.

I would guess that most people use the switchable tables to run two different tunes. So one table for high mileage when you're commuting to work and another table for best performance on the track for example.

That's generally a common misconception, one that I too thought and asked on PT, but was corrected by shaodome IIRC. As I'm sure you know leaner = more power, and leaner also = better mileage. I can't really see a need to have two tables for the same fuel, unless you want to run purposefully richer at the track for safety. Since having MS I've leaned out my car alot, and it's gone from 29mpg to 34mpg last time I checked, and I've leaned out alot since. It also performs better too :)

so based on this could you run a ms on a stock k8 and get similar results as well? Sorry if its a simple question but Im still trying to understand standalone ecus.

Oke, so my purpose would be nitrous activation and other fuel mapping.

The switchable table would be activated by a ground. So if my switch is turned on it gives ground to the MS unit.

In theory yes. That's actually something I'm planning to try with an old ms v1 I never used on my stock red car. The stock maps are pretty rich compared to what you can get away with. Mind you I'm no pro, but that's what I've gathered so far from experience. Take a while to your money back but if you got a good deal it'd be sweet.
