So... you have been everywhere and seen every other MX-3 and only the well kept 3's are in the UK?
I think it's a pretty even mix of well kept and poorly kept 3's all over the country.

Ummm... no I haven't. It was just a generalization, quite clearly I was exaggerating. But I have been passively looking at them for the last three or so years, and it seems to be the case.

And what country are you referring to??

A simple google search will provide your proof. Here's the first three that show up:

Do you require me to post links to every MX-3 for sale in the UK? Or can you handle the rest on your own?

I agree completely. Almost all of the pristine mx3's are overseas. There are a few reasons for this:

1. Mileage - they put on way less mileage then we do here in Canada and the US. People over there travel less of a distance to get where they are going
2. Money - gas and maintenence cost quite abit more overseas then they do here, so cars are parked and are well taken care for over there
3. Maturity - I think that most of the car owners overseas take care of their cars a lot better then we do over here. North americans ratbag any car they can get their hands on and the drivers are a lot more inexperienced on our side then over the pond in Euro land... Whether we'd like to admit it or not.
4. Rarity - mx3's might be a dime a dozen here, but over there... Not so much. The car is harder to locate there so they usually fall into the hands of someone who is actually wanting one, not someone who is buying one because "they just need a car", which would lead to the car being well taken care of
5. Sexiness - euro mx3's look better then usdm, so maybe there is more respect over there for em, unlike here where its "oh its a girls car" and 90 percent of GS's are missing the front lips and have rust infested bodies.

I gotta stop typing these long posts on my blackberry lol

I don't think you could be more correct. Add to that the fact that they sold them until at least '98 in the UK, so many of the "well kept" ones are I little bit newer.

I didn't know how well cars could be kept till i moved to the south.
Here.... they will spend A LOT more on keeping their cars up then they will their home.
But, all in all.... i have been all over the world and seen all kinds of cars,
some kept well, some VERY well and some kept as crappy as anywhere else.
I don't think the grass is any greener from one country to the next.
I guess thats why they call it free will.
My Dad taught me to always take care of my car's and im glad he did. :)

Wow... I can't believe you all took that so literally. Of course many of the people on this board have very respectful Mx-3's, but there are many mx-3 owners who aren't members, and take zero care of them.

It wasn't a shot at anybody here. Just an observation after seeing the condition of the majority of the Mx-3's for sale in North America.

Forget I said anything... wasn't meant as a diss..

...and the craziest customized ones are in the Netherlands.
From the Devil's advocate;
I've always put more time into making my vehicles mre fun to drive, and drive them - I DO! I would rather upgrade performance, or be driving than making them look good. It's also noteable that the craziest kitted cars are almost always the slowect, ie. SOHC I4s. When it's pointless to upgrade "funness", people put money into making them look fun.
My favorite MX-3s have been from The Americas, like Kp2t's.

I don't know about other parts of the world, but they salt the roads here in the winter and that is pretty much a rust catalyst :(

Its all good Umcamara. I know what you mean now and its a painful truth -
most of the MX-3s I see on the road here are what I would classify as a beater.
