ok i dont really know anything about transmissions except how to take one out and put one in.
now i read the swap guide. and from what it says our drive axles are unique to us?
im building a bpt to hopefully push 20 to 25psi. strictly for the quartermile.
now question #1 is which trans is best for this kind of hp (assuming 300 to 400hp range.)
and what vehicle would i search for to get this tranny. i want a manual. (not a big fan of automatic)
and if swap the trans wont i have to swap the drive axles?
question #2 would the drive axles handle that kind of hp? (im assuming not)
and if not where would i get ones that could
question #3(final question for now) and for this kinda hp wouldnt i have to swap the wheel barings?

G series
300+ hp will kill it, so no 400 for you
search again

The best trans you can use is the Kia Sephia trans, from a 1.8 BP.
Although are axles are unique, others are close enough that you can use them. Axles are built to have plenty of play, and they do. 323/sephia/tracer/escort/protege axles should work fine.
You will want to use G series transmission axles, because F series has a 3' long passenger axle. dragging at 300+ hp, if you didn't shear that thing, you'd have enough torque steer to damage the car next to you.

ok so i can peak around 290hp and i know what drive axles i want.
and now i know what trans i should get.
but now my question is how do the mazda protege rally cars boost 30psi around like 450whp.
isnt it basically the same.
do they have like a custom drivetrain or somethin?

The Kia G-series transaxle uses 28 spline axles & jack-shaft, so 26spline protege, escort gt, etc... axles won't fit.
For your 400+ horsepower goal, you may want to research up on the toyota E153 trans swap

ok so after a sec of searching i found this link
http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43492
and after a bit of reading i decided i wanna do the e153 trans swap.
right now my budget for my build is $9000 so im building the whole car for drag racing. the downside is after building everything for the turbo and have it run 20 to 30psi. i wont have enough money for the turbo.
but oh well. thats what kinda made me decide to do the swap.
because i might as well get it ready for that power. then save up for it.
and besided the e153 trans swap is custom work. somthing i like to do.
so it should be pretty fun.
so i guess my first few questions should be is there anything in that guide that is different for our cars then the proteges.
and where am i gonna find the adapter plate or am i gonna have to have one machined?
